The British Mainstream Media Killed Princess Diana (why Transgender People Don’t Stand A Chance in the British Press)

Harry and Meghan

I just finished watching the Harry and Meghan documentary on Netflix. When I started this post in 2020, it was inspired by this Goalcast video. It has dawned on me then just how pervasive the jaundice of the British mainstream media (MSM) is:

Prince Harry’s Deepest Regret Over Diana’s Death

Princess Diana’s sudden death shocked the world, but for Prince Harry it was devastating. At just 12 years old the only way to cope was to bury his grief. But when the very thing that killed his mother threatened his new family, Harry had no choice but to come forward and confront his pain. Video Goalcast

Today’s UK mainstream media isn’t much different. It killed Princess Diana in 1997. Prince Harry saw that the press was doing much the same to his wife (added in with blatant racism) and moved to the United States to escape the media machine that took his mum’s life.

Jeremy Corbyn

Jeremy Corbyn was attacked mercilessly during his time as leader of the Labour Party. The leader of the largest political party in the United Kingdom found no shelter from the mainstream media either. One study done in 2016 found:

“three in ten (30%) news stories, editorials, commentaries, features or letters to the editor mock the leader of the opposition orscoff at his ideas, policies, history, his personal life —and, alarmingly, even his looks.”

“Corbyn is systematically ridiculed, scorned and the object of personal attacks by most newspapers. Even more problematic were a set of associations which deligitimised Corbyn as a politician, calling him loony, unpatriotic, a terrorist friend and a dangerous individual. It has to be noted though that whereas ridicule and scorn increased in time, the more hard-hitting and emotive frames such as calling him a communist ora terrorist friend diminished over time.”

The London School of Economics and Political Science: “Journalistic Representations of Jeremy Corbyn in the British Press:From Watchdog to Attackdog”

He protested against the Iraq War, was arrested for protesting apartheid in South Africa, and has been an advocate for world peace for his entire career. So much so the Gandhi Foundation said of him:

The Trustees of The Gandhi Foundation agreed to offer him our International Peace Award in recognition of his consistent efforts over a 30 year Parliamentary career to uphold the Gandhian values of social justice and non‐violence. Besides being a popular and hard‐working constituency MP he has made time to speak and write extensively in support of human rights at home and world‐wide. His committed opposition to neocolonial wars and to nuclear weapons has repeatedly shown the lack of truth in the arguments of those who have opposed him.

The Gandhi Foundation

But all that work for peace wasn’t enough for the British MSM to stop from slandering Corbyn. (Even the BBC got into the game.) They kept throwing mud at him until it eventually stuck. Corbyn’s been tarred and feathered as an anti-semite because Corbyn said that claims of anti-Semitism were being weaponised, and that’s precisely what the Forde Report and the Labour Files documentary showed.

Trans Rights

When it comes to transgender people, the story is much the same. The Times newspaper ran, on average, two stories every day on transgender people in the last year:

1.5 stories a day from the Sun:

And the Daily Mail runs approximately one trans story every other day:

MP Diane Abbott, who has been a punching bag for the British MSM, gets straight to the point:

There’s been an erosion of trans rights in the UK, and with the slander in the MSM, it’s no wonder why. The Tory government is looking for a “war on woke” to distract voters from the fact that the NHS is crumbling, the UK has one of the worst inflation rates in the G20, and the cost of living crisis is making Britons poorer. With a large chunk of the UK MSM owned by right-wing billionaires, it can do this with little to no repercussions. It can, does, and will ruin anyone it pleases.
